Berglund Named 2026 Finalist for Three CBC Merit Awards

We are excited to announce that three of our projects have been named finalists for the 2026 Chicago Building Congress Merit Awards, recognizing excellence in construction across the Chicagoland. Category: Renovation & Adaptive Reuse Under $20 Million 

Partners: CircEsteem, IFF, JGMA, Revive Architects  

This project transformed a historic two-story structure into a vibrant training and performance hub for youth circus arts. The renovation modernized structural, mechanical, and life-safety systems while preserving the building’s historic exterior, creating a safe and inspiring environment that supports CircEsteem’s mission of empowering Chicago youth through the arts. 

 

Jesse White State of Illinois Building | 115 S. LaSalle

Partners: State of Illinois, The Prime Group, Inc., Perkins&Will, Urban-Resolve, CMS, Ernst & Young 

The modernization of 115 S. LaSalle revitalized a historic high-rise to meet the needs of today’s workforce. The project included complex infrastructure upgrades, relocation of critical electrical systems, and significant interior improvements, all completed within an occupied building while maintaining tight timelines and delivering exceptional craftsmanship.

Northwestern University | Deering Library Restoration & Renovation

The restoration and renovation of Deering Library carefully preserved one of Northwestern’s most iconic campus landmarks while revitalizing its public spaces for today’s students and scholars. The project restored historic architectural features, introduced modern infrastructure, and enhanced lighting and accessibility - bringing new life to a beloved academic space while honoring its historic character.
