Berglund Construction Forms Advisory Board, Welcomes Smith Holland

Berglund Construction has established a Board of Advisors to bring outside perspective and strategic guidance as the company continues its transition to fourth-generation family leadership.

Berglund is proud to welcome Smith Holland as the inaugural external member of this newly formed Board.

Smith brings more than 30 years of executive experience working within and leading privately held, family-owned businesses, most notably Hallmark. His deep understanding of how to manage, govern, and sustain multi-generational enterprises will be invaluable as Berglund continues to evolve its own governance and growth model.

During his tenure at Hallmark, Smith served as President & CEO of Hallmark Global, Crayola, and Hallmark Canada, leading organizations with revenues ranging from $125 million to $2 billion. He guided these legacy brands through significant transformation—modernizing business models, strengthening profitability, and adding digital capabilities while preserving the culture and values that define family ownership.

“Smith brings invaluable experience from one of America’s great family enterprises,” said Fred Berglund, CEO and Chairman of Berglund Construction. “He understands both the privilege and responsibility of leading a multi-generational business. His perspective will help ensure Berglund’s continued success for generations to come.”

Other members of Berglund’s Advisory Board include Fred Berglund, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman; Jack Tribbia, Vice Chair; Kevin Geshwender, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer; and Jeff Berglund, President. Together, the Board will help guide the company’s long-term strategy, succession planning, and growth as a fourth-generation, family-owned enterprise.

Additional outside members are expected to join the Advisory Board as it becomes fully established, broadening the range of perspectives guiding Berglund’s future.
