The Valpo Parks Foundation has announced the appointment of Josh Schoon to its Board of Directors for 2026, welcoming a proven leader with a strong commitment to community service and local impact. 

As Director, Indiana Region for Berglund Construction, Schoon leads regional growth initiatives with a strong emphasis on community impact. His collaborative, hands-on leadership style reflects Berglund’s long-standing commitment to building, reinvesting in, and strengthening the communities it serves. That commitment is evident through Berglund’s continued work in Valparaiso, including projects such as the ValPlayso PicklePlex, Urschel Pavilion, and the rePLAY Valparaiso initiative, among others.  

With experience in strategic planning, team development, and delivering community-centered projects, Schoon brings a perspective that aligns naturally with the Foundation’s mission to enhance Valparaiso’s parks and public spaces. This year, he was also honored by the Valpo Chamber with the Salute to Leadership Emerging Leader Award, recognizing his impact and dedication to the community. 

Through his board service, Schoon will support the Foundation’s efforts to invest in parks, programs, and initiatives that strengthen quality of life throughout Valparaiso. His appointment reflects a shared commitment to community, collaboration, and building places that bring people together - both professionally and personally.
