Project Overview

Berglund Construction served as construction manager at-risk for a three-story, 50,000-sqft addition to the existing two-story Edwards Elementary School.

This project, which was managed by the Public Buildings Commission, includes site development and required parking for the 50,000 sqft annex. The addition houses a lunchroom and multipurpose room, kitchen and 24 classrooms. The project included improvements to the existing school building. Three classrooms in the existing building were also renovated. Water infiltration into the existing building prompted the need for roofing, masonry, mechanical, electrical and plumbing system repairs and improvements.

After building completion, Berglund’s scope of work turned toward improving the play area for the children. To make room for a new play field, Berglund removed two modular buildings on the west side of the site. The existing playground was replaced with a more modern playground.
