Berglund Construction is proud to celebrate Sarah Pantos, Preservation Manager, on her acceptance into the Association for Preservation Technology International (APT) Recognized Professional Program.
Sarah has been selected as part of the ninth cohort of APT Recognized Professionals and will be formally recognized at APT’s 2026 Annual Conference in Indianapolis. The recognition honors professionals who demonstrate specialized knowledge, experience and proficiency in preservation technology and the conservation and stewardship of cultural heritage.
With more than 10 years of experience in the construction and historic preservation industry, Sarah has become an integral part of Berglund’s preservation work. She brings a deep understanding of historic buildings, materials, and construction methods, along with a passion for protecting the architectural character and history of significant properties.
Throughout her career, Sarah has contributed to the preservation and restoration of nationally and regionally significant landmarks, including the Chicago Cultural Center, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple, Pabst Mansion, Altgeld Hall and recent National Park Service projects in Indiana. Her experience spans a diverse range of historic structures and restoration challenges, giving her a valuable perspective on how to thoughtfully balance preservation with the needs of today’s building users.
Just as important as Sarah’s technical expertise is the confidence she brings to clients and project teams. Her competency and steady approach provide a sense that projects are in good hands. She builds trust through her knowledge, communication, and commitment to finding the right solution, even when working through the complexities that often come with historic restoration.
Sarah also brings an extensive professional network developed throughout her career. She knows how to leverage relationships with architects, consultants, preservation specialists, craftspeople and other industry professionals to bring the right resources and expertise to each project. That ability to connect people and knowledge is an important part of the value she provides to Berglund’s clients.

From understanding historic materials and construction methods to navigating the complexities of restoring treasured structures, she plays a critical role in ensuring these buildings are preserved for future generations.
APT established its Recognized Professional Program to formally acknowledge individuals who have achieved an expert level of skill in preservation technology through a combination of education, experience and professional mentorship. Recognized Professionals are expected to uphold APT’s ethical and technical standards within the field.
