Mitchell Revitalization Project
Berglund Construction updated the 35-year-old Mitchell and Rubloff buildings at UCMC, enhancing patient care with new technology and infrastructure improvements.

Project Overview

The Mitchell and Rubloff buildings comprise a 35-year-old inpatient hospital that UCMC was looking to revitalize to a level wherein they can make provisions for safe and efficient patient care with updated technology supported by the necessary infrastructure improvements. The project scope includes finish renovation of 210 patient rooms, minor renovation of some core spaces, IT upgrade for nurse call, telemetry, clinical communication, basic IT infrastructure, and selective MEP upgrades and improvements. All work will be accomplished in phases while the Hospital continues to operate. The Project team was asked to help find the correct balance between value in improvements and the short term nature of the investment.
