The 45,000 sqft new construction for The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) east campus is being built to achieve LEED Silver certification.
Project Overview

Berglund is constructing a new standalone College of Engineering building on the The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) east campus. The site is at the southwest corner of Taylor Street and Morgan Street. The building design is approximately 40,000 sqft. The building includes spaces for students and faculty: a high bay structural testing lab with an exterior water testing flume for the Civil and Materials Engineering (CME) Department, research laboratories and offices for the Chemical Engineering (Che) Department, research laboratories and offices for the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) Department. The minimum goal is to achieve LEED Silver certification, and an aspirational goal is to achieve LEED Gold certification.
