Project Overview

Berglund was selected to be the Construction Manager for the new “15th Street Building” - a pre-engineered metal frame building that houses the following departments under one roof: Town Manager, Engineer, Stormwater Management / MS4, Street Department / Sanitation, Central Services, Building Department, Utility Department and Parks Department. This grouping of most of the municipal services into one centrally located building benefits the residents of Chesterton with access to “one-stop shopping." The main goal of this project was to accommodate an expanding Street Department that had reached the limit of its current space for their daily operations. The Utility Collection Department utilizes the vacated Street Department facility eliminating the need for a new building. The final piece to this puzzle was the construction of the free-standing salt storage building. Other site amenities included like paved storage area out back, new salt barn, and covered storage bays.
