Project Overview

Berglund Construction provided construction services for the completion of a two-story addition that includes radiation oncology and medical oncology for seven physicians. The 42,500-sqft construction of new state-of-the-art Edwards Hospital Cancer Care Center facility offers convenient, comprehensive outpatient medical and radiation oncology services.

A centerpiece of the new cancer center is its linear accelerator, which delivers radiation treatments using intensity modulated radiation therapy, or IMRT. The precisely calibrated treatment allows medical professionals to treat tumors while sparing surrounding, healthy tissue. Other medical services offered at the cancer center were 36 medical oncology treatment stations, a CT/Simulator, exam rooms, professional conference center and library. Construction components included multiple roof systems and a structural timber canopy. The interior renovation of the existing building created a new cancer care center. The existing hospital building remained occupied throughout demolition and construction.
