Project Overview

The upscale Westin Hotel in Chicago’s River North is situated on the Chicago River. The hotel hired Berglund Construction to make repairs to the building’s terrace, planters, river walk and stairs. The terrace work included removing existing pavers and storing for re-use, removing the existing waterproofing and replacing with a new system. We re-installed the pavers with a new setting bed and gravel fill. The planter work included removing existing limestone panels for re-use, removing and replacing the existing waterproofing system, and reinstalling the existing limestone panels. The river walk and stairs work scope included removing precast concrete stairs for re-use, replacing the waterproofing system and re-installing the stairs.
