Project Overview

This historic church designed by Ed Dart is located in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood. Expansion includes classrooms, offices and a multi-purpose room. The project entailed construction of a two-story 5,500 sqft addition and renovation of 5,000 sqft of existing space.

Augustana Church has an inspiring sanctuary. It lacked contemporary supporting spaces important to the mission of this religious community. The program included six classrooms, restrooms, a fellowship hall with outdoor courtyard, kitchen, several offices and conference rooms. Renovations included improvements to a dimly lit narthex. The completed project fulfills the promise seeded in the original church design for an inspirational religious community.
