Berglund Construction proudly joined Valpo Parks earlier this week to celebrate the grand opening of the new PicklePlex at ValPLAYso Park, a project we were honored to lead as construction manager from preconstruction through completion. The ribbon cutting ceremony brought together community members, local leaders, and pickleball enthusiasts of all ages to mark the opening of this exciting new addition, built to the highest standards of quality, safety, and durability. 

Speakers ranging from city officials to young athletes shared their enthusiasm for the new courts and the positive impact they will have on recreation across the region. 

Berglund Construction is proud to have partnered with Valpo Parks to bring this vision to life. As construction manager, Berglund oversaw the project from preconstruction through completion, ensuring quality, safety, and lasting durability. The PicklePlex marks one of many collaborations between Berglund and Valpo Parks, reflecting a shared commitment to creating spaces that support active living and community connection. 

Located next to key amenities - including accessible restrooms, parking, and the beloved ValPLAYso playground - the PicklePlex enhances the overall park experience. Its six new courts allow for multiple singles and doubles games at once, offering a vibrant space for casual play, competitive events, and social interaction.

“I may not play pickleball yet, but seeing the energy around these courts makes me want to pick up a paddle,” said Josh Schoon, Berglund’s Indiana Region Director. “We love being part of projects like this that bring people together and make the community even stronger.” 

The project is part of Valpo Parks’ broader rePLAY initiative, which includes upcoming improvements at Ogden Botanical Gardens, Glenrose South Park, Tower Park, and more.
