A 13-story high rise building in Milwaukee, the Frank P Zeidler Municipal Building was originally designed by Eschweiler & Eschwiler and constructed in 1959. Recently, the City of Milwaukee hired Berglund Construction to undertake its exterior wall repairs project.
The building is constructed of a concrete frame. Its exterior walls are clad with Kasota limestone, brick masonry, three different types of granite, plaster, aluminum fins and panels, aluminum louvers, and glass glazed aluminum window frames. Berglund’s scope of work centered on repairing the exterior wall masonry and stone cladding elements of the building.
The project included rebuilding the masonry parapet wall, grinding and tuckpointing all brick joints, repairing or replacing Kasota limestone units, replacing all sealant on the building, and granite repair and replacement. Swing stages provided access for the work.
