GeoMet Building, Valparaiso University
Berglund Construction saved Indiana’s Valparaiso University more than $500,000 in construction costs for a geosciences building — and we completed the project two months ahead of schedule, as well.
Our staff beat our own fast-track schedule in completing the 16,830-square-foot GeoMet Building, saving the university $502,737 despite inclement weather, a challenging design, many difficult interior and exterior architectural elements and active campus logistics.
Then we connected the GeoMet Building to Schnabel Hall — home of the university’s Department of Communication — and renovated the hall. We installed 2,200 linear feet of telecommunications conduit over a holiday period to minimize interruptions to students, as well as meeting additional project goals for increased classroom, laboratory and administrative space and enhanced capacity as a campus communications center.
The combined elements of the project resulted in a cost-effective, state-of-the-art building that both faculty and students can appreciate for years to come.
