Project Overview

Berglund Construction provided Preconstruction and Construction Management Services for the two-story Emergency Department Pavilion and redesigned West Pavilion Entrance at Community Hospital, located in Munster, IN.

The Emergency Department features two new entrances, one for walk-in patients and the other for emergency vehicles and cars.

1st floor contains 30 exam rooms with three walls and a curtained glass entrance for quiet and privacy, two specialty rooms for trauma and two OB rooms with private bathrooms, along with two x-ray rooms and a dedicated CT scan in the department for quicker assessment of patients. All rooms are private and built larger to accommodate family visitation. The second floor features 14 per-admission beds where patients can be cared for comfortably while waiting to be admitted to the main hospital.

To accommodate the expansion of services to the hospital, Berglund upgraded the physical plant chillers totaling 3,000 ton capacity, as well as new boilers and sources for domestic water and medical gases.
