Berglund Strategic Growth

CHESTERTON, INDIANA — Fred Berglund, President, Berglund Construction, has announced a corporate strategy for further expansion into the Northwest and North Central Indiana market regions. The plan is based upon Berglund’s reputation for operations excellence and continued service to quality clients.

“We have spent considerable time in developing our training programs so that our Operation’s Staff responds to our clients in the Berglund Way. Much of our training is focused on Safety Program Planning and Awareness and has generated great dividends for our customers. Currently our Safety EMR rating is .59, which stands as a remarkable record of achievement,” said Berglund.

The Indiana Strategic Growth Plan is not dissimilar to the core markets of Berglund’s Illinois Division.

“We are following the same core markets here in Indiana that have served as our foundation in Chicago,” notes Bill Gorski, Vice President and General Manager of the Indiana Division. “Our market targets in healthcare, higher education, private and public schools, and government/municipal facilities and the expertise of our field staff in building these types of facilities will significantly encourage our Quality Control.”

Berglund continues to serve the Community Healthcare System in Munster and maintain an active presence on the Valparaiso University campus. Berglund’s Healthcare portfolio encompasses the construction of Medical Office Buildings, Surgical Centers, and specialized Medical Outpatient Centers.

“In addition to the potential for larger replacement hospitals, we know that the trend in healthcare facility design and construction, is towards regional, specialized medical facilities of this nature,” said Gorski.

As part of its municipal market presence, the firm has recently completed the Newton County Community Library in Morocco; and has begun construction on a new Lake County Public Library in Lake Station. Berglund Construction is currently is involved in Preconstruction Services for two highly recognized projects in the State of Indiana; the new Centier Bank Headquarters in Merrillville and the Renovation and Addition to the Nussbaum Science Complex at Taylor University in Upland.

“This early involvement with specialized facilities gives us an opportunity to utilize our full array of Preconstruction Services and to continually assure the client of the best value for their financial expenditure,” said Gorski.

Both are planned for 2007 construction.
